The rifle features the iconic Mauser bolt action system with a straight bolt handle, a full rifle length barrel and military stock, as well as the very unique and sophisticated "roller coaster" adjustable rear sight. The barrel is marked with an "S", which is most likely an "S Patrone" marking, meaning the barrel's cahmber was modified to accept a modern spitzer type bullet in the early 1900's. The rifle is in great overall cosmetic condition, with areas of typical wear, as well as some components that have been left in the white, such as the barrel bands and other components. The rifle has very few matching parts, and appears to have been assembled with parts of a few different rifles, and the locking screws for the stock screws are missing, as shown. The action is smooth, and the bore looks to be in nice shape, with only some very minor roughness in a few spots. Please refer to the photos prior to purchase. This is a great example of an early Mauser rifle, and it would make for a nice shooter! SOLD Rifle Caliber: 8x57mm J Manufacturer: Mauser Model: Gew 98 Serial Number: 5007q |
