Description:
Just up for sale today we have this very nice Sako Riihimaki bolt action benchrest target rifle chambered in .222 Remington centerfire (Otherwise known as Triple Deuce). This is an excellent rifle that works great! Has a custom wood stock with a monte carlo style cheek riser and wide target style forend. The stock has handling marks throughout the wood and also shows a previously repaired crack that runs along the bottom of the forend that is visible in the pictures. Length of pull is about 13.5" to the Fray-Mershon No-Slip butt plate. Has a semi-heavy 24" factory target barrel with a minty looking bore that has nice sharp crisp rifling. The finish looks great and is at least 90% or better. There are some faint scratches and spotting in the bluing but overall looks excellent. There are some very small numbers inscribed under the barrel just in front of the forend but it could be a factory marking, I'm just not sure. The numbers are about 3/4" long and 1/8" tall. The action works nice and smooth as you would expect from a Sako. This gun has been converted to a single shot with a wood block inside the magazine well but it could be converted back to a repeater if you sourced the internal magazine parts, although single shot is preferable for many people due to the straight shot loading into the chamber. These excellent rifles are built in Finland with great precision. This rifle does have the factory front iron sight but also includes scope mounts designed for a Unertl style long tube target scope. Overall this is just a very nice Sako target rifle that would be great for benchrest or varmint shooting.
