EXCEPTIONAL ENGLISH HOUNSLOW HUNTING HANGER OR FALCHION CIRCA 1630’s-40’s. 31” o/a with 26” blade having the Hounslow “RUNNING FOX” mark inlaid in brass on the left side. Ornately decorated iron hilt and guard with floral motifs in the “Mortuary” manner of the English Civil War era. Checkered and fluted bone grip. Exceptionally nice hilt with pronounced “SHELL” form guard. All original and in excellent condition. Very scarce form of sword of the with historical association to both the English Civil War and the Puritan colonization of New England.
