Description:
This is a good honest 1879 Carbine serial # 125758. It has the Buffington rear sight which was probably an arsenal upgrade during the period of use. The sight is marked with a "C" to indicate it is a correct carbine sight.
Condition
Metal is a dark age patina with some original blue finish remaining. The wood is very good but does not show a cartouche, The action is very good and the bore has some rough areas. There is a small brass tag with the # 1833 attached with 2 little nails just under the sling bar, this was probably an old collection or museum number. Saddle ring is missing.
