This all matching and all original C96 was manufactured between 1928 and 1930. With the records of the Mauser Oberndorf factory being mostly destroyed it's very diffcult to pinpoint an exact year of manufacture. However, this gun is in the range of guns known to be manufactured between 1928 and 1930. All present serial numbers on the pistol are matching. The Gun bears the Mauser banner logo on the left side, and the Waffenfabrik Mauser Oberndorf A. Neckar on the right side. The correct intertwined NS is found on the hammer facing the shooter along with the last 3 digits of the serial number. The original 23 line bolo grips are in excellent condition with only minor wear and deep grooves. The original blue finish has worn over the years to a nice patina, with some very minor pitting in a few areas, but overall very clean and crisp. With the majority of C96 pistols being refinished at some point in their lives, it's refreshing to see one wearing an original and very clean finish. Bore is very nice with only a few specs very light frosting, easily an 8.5/10. The stock is what we believe to be a reproduction and is not numbered to the gun, in addition, it is missing the latch to connect it to the pistol. These broomhandles are one of the most iconic and recognizable pistols ever made, and this one would be a must have for the more advanced foreign military collection.
