From our research this holster started its life in the police service, which adopted the style in 1939. In the years following the spare magazine pouch was shortened, possibly for easier removal of the magazine. The makers marks is worn but "Hanstig" is still legible on the front while number "47703", possibly an identification number, is visable on the backside.
