Description:
This is a very nice all-original and correct World War 2 Ithaca 1911A1 pistol brought home to the States after WW2, thus avoiding the U.S. Military's Arsenal Inspection/Overhaul process.  We have been thru this gun from top to bottom, and every single part is the original correct part it would have left the factory with.  While this Ithaca certainly shows some finish wear and handling marks typical of an issued and combat-used weapon, it has been well-cared for in the years since.  The original factory parkerizing has an attractive patina to it, and you can still see the shadow on the front half of the slide and around the slide-stop notch where it was hardened differently than the rest of the slide.  All of the factory markings and U.S. Military inspection stamps are clear and legible except for the U.S. Ordnance Wheel at the right rear of the frame, which is a light strike and very typical for pistols of this period.  The "FJA" stamp is very clean and crisp for the U.S. inspector's intials of Frank J. Atwood, and both of the proof "P" marks on the frame and slide are deep and clear.  The bore in this Ithaca is excellent overall with bright and sharp lands and just a touch of frosting in the grooves.  The factory blued finish on the exterior of the original Flannery Bolt barrel shows wear consistent with the rest of the gun.  The original grips on this gun are in good condition overall, showing consistent wear with the gun but no cracks, chips, or repairs.  The grip panels are a perfect match to each other in every way, and both grips are nice and tight to the frame with no wiggle.  The action on this 1911A1 is slick and precise, with an excellent slide-to-frame fit.  This Ithaca locks up into battery perfectly, and all of the controls on this pistol are in perfect working order.  We have no doubt that this Ithaca would function and fire just as reliably now as it did when it left the factory 75 years ago.  It comes complete with one original WW2 U.S.G.I. contract magazine with an "S" marked lip for Scovill Mfg. Co. in Waterbury, Connecticut.  If you have been looking for all-original and combat-used WW2 1911A1 for your collection, this 1945 manufacture Ithaca would be an excellent choice.  It is not too often that we get Ithaca 1911A1's in any condition, much less a completely un-touched and not arsenal re-worked example.
