Nice looking antique Colt Frontier Six Shooter fitted with a 4 3/4 inch barrel, checkered hard rubber eagle grips, built on the black powder frame, is blue/color case-hardened finished, and chambered in .44/40. This 1891 vintage gun is in excellent original condition, retaining 40% original color case hardened finish on the frame with the rest having turned a silver/grey patina, and the barrel, trigger guard and back-strap retaining about 30% of their original blue finish. The cylinder retains traces of its original blue finish in the flutes with the rest having turned a grey patina. The bore is in fine condition, with sharp rifling, and the action functions perfectly. All screw-heads are mostly unmolested and stampings on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and back-strap are crisp. The grips fit well and are in very good condition, with no cracks and only a very small chip on the right grip panel. Comes with a copy of a Colt Factory Letter attesting to its configuration and that it was shipped to Simmons Hardware Company located in St. Louis, Missouri on Jnauary 22, 1891.
