Here is an excellent example of the superb and very scarce Pre War Model 70 in 300 Magnum (H&H) caliber. S/N 18*** with matching bolt made in 1939! This is the original .300 Magnum caliber and still considered by many to be the best of all. They were marked simply "300 Magnum" upon introduction, since it would be years later before any other 300 mags came on the scene, prompting the need to designate between them. This rifle is in Very Good-Excellent condition throughout. It wears the beautiful rust blued barrel and special polished carbonum blued receiver used only on the earliest rifles. 96% Blue and Varnish. There are some scattered impressions in the wood, and a few light marks in the bluing, but really superb considering its 81 years of age. It features all correct factory components. Barrel is 26" with an excellent bore. Mechanical function is also excellent.
