The majority of these rifles were manufactured in Belgium for their use and for foreign customers, including Japan. This rifle has the crown over “V" Victorian-era proofs on the barrel, receiver, and breechblock. The caliber is marked “.430" on barrel and the rear sight is graduated in meters, a sign it was made for export. Overall length is 53½". The approximately 34½" round barrel is chambered for the 11x50Rmm centerfire cartridge. The bore is excellent. The original bright finish has a pleasing smooth brown patina. The stock is very good with issue dings and scrapes, but no cracks or chips. Serial numbers match. The action functions correctly. The cleaning rod is a replacement. The sling swivels are present. Barrel has a bayonet lug on the bottom, approximately 1 1/16" from the muzzle. This is a very nice example of the rarely-seen British-made Albini-Broendlin rifle. This rifle conforms to the Belgian Model 1888 pattern. SOLD Antique: Yes |
