Waters Model 1816 musket with Tower Lock. Overall length is 57â…›”. The 42” round .69 caliber smooth bore barrel has a fair pitted bore. All metal has a brown patina with light to medium pitting overall. The stock s very good with no chips and a small crack forward of the rear lock screw. Barrel is marked “MLM” over an eagle over a sunken “P”. Moses L Morse (MLM) inspected Asa Waters Model 1816 musket barrels from 1820 to Feb 1824. The lock is marked “Tower” to the rear. There is evidence of a crown at the center. The lock is very nicely installed, and the action functions correctly. This is an interesting musket that has been together a long time.
