"

U.S. Model 1842 .69 caliber Percussion Musket. Made by the Springfield Armory in 1851. 42” Round barrel with fair bore. All metal has a brown patina. Stock is good with missing chips on both sides of the butt plate heel. The bands and butt plate have a gray finish. The front band is secured by a screw. There are no inspection marks on the barrel. The sling swivel are missing. Ramrod is short but presents well. The lock is marked with the eagle “US” in the center and “Spring/ Field/ 1851” at the rear. Action functions correctly. A good representative Model 1842 at a reasonable price.
