SCARCE CIVIL WAR WHITNEY U.S. MODEL 1841 COLT CONVERSION MISSISSIPPI RIFLE DATED 1853. Circa 1860-61 conversion by Colt to .58 caliber with the addition of the Colt Two Leaf Long Range sight. All original and matching with matching lock and barrel “1853” dates. Barrel proofed and inspected “U.S./J.P.C./VP”. Lock stamped “E. WHITNEY/U.S.” and “N. HAVEN/1853”. Excellent condition with medium grey original patina on lock and barrel. Mellow unpolished brass color. Excellent plus stock with the original finish and nice patina. Has two clearly visible inspector’s cartouches on the side panel. Original ramrod. Perfect working order and excellent plus bore with very crisp rifling. Extra nice condition and scarce Colt Conversion.
