Payment Types Accepted: AmEx, Discover, Master Card, Visa, Money Order, Certified Check, Personal Check (item held until check cleared) Description: This is a pre-war Sempert & Krieghoff Sidelock Double Rifle in 7.8x57 mm Pre-War (rimmed). It has 22-3/4" barrels with a full-length matte rib, mounted with a peep rear sight, a bead front sight, and a scope base. Each barrel is marked "Sempert & Krieghoff, Suhl" on the top. The bottoms of the barrels are each stamped with German nitro proofs for 7.8x57 mm caliber and a proof date of 10/29. The barrels retain nearly all of an excellent rust blue. The coin-finished sidelock action features a safety lever mounted on the left lockplate, exposing "SICHER" ("SAFE") when in top position. The finish is slightly darkened, leaving an overall pewter gray. A rifle cocking lever is present on the bottom-left side. The action is engraved with well cut English scroll. The sidelocks are engraved with well-rendered game scenes.  The stock is a nicely stump-figured European walnut with a horn-capped pistol grip. It has a 14-1/4″ length of pull over the horn buttplate. The stock also features a slightly hog-backed comb, a right-hand shadow-line cheekpiece, and fine checkering with line borders. The matching splinter forend has an inlet horn tip and a Deeley release. The stocks retain most of, what appears to be, their original finish, with oil rubbed in as maintenance over the years. A number of marks and scratches are present, and the sharp edges show some wear. The rifle also features a raised rib, tumbler-end cocking indicators, side clips, a crossbolt third fastener, and double triggers (front set). The trigger guard is made of horn.  All items are also available for sale in our brick & mortar store and are subject to prior sale. Think long, think wrong.
