Description:
This is a trowel-type tool, very similar in design to the Model 1880 Hunting Knife. The flat blade measures 8" long, with a width of 3 1/2", and a rounded tip. The steel has a bright, original patina with spots of dark freckling at the very tip, as well as at the steel guard and bolster. The 17 groove oak handle has a crisp “US" stamp at the top, and has light wear and surface blemishes throughout. The original scabbard has embossed “US" at the throat, and is intact, however the leather has dried and flaked throughout. This is a great piece of Indian Wars militaria, and rates very good condition overall.
