The top rear of the wood stock has an old stamping in small letters "NAS Miami" which leads us to conclude that this rifle belonged to the U.S. Navy in Florida at some point in history. NAS Miami was operational beginning in 1920 until after the war. The stock of this rifle retains the original color that collectors find very desireable. The barrel is marked SA with the flaming bomb and manufacture date. The WJS stamp is clear on the left side of the stock as well as the circled P just behind the trigger guard. The heel of this rifle has what appears to be a stress crack which is solid and does not penetrate through the entire stock. The bore of this 03 is characteristic of most rifles of it's age and useage remains "good" with some rifling visable. The overall appearance of this rifle is outstanding coupled with the knowledge of it's history make this a very collectible firearm. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
