MEXICAN WAR to CIVIL WAR HARPERS FERRY U.S. MODEL 1842 PERCUSSION MUSKET DATED 1845. 42” smoothbore .69 cal. barrel with Harpers Ferry “V/ P /EAGLE HEAD” proofs at the breech. Lock plate stamped “HARPERS/FERRY/1845” AND “EAGLE/US”. All original and complete and matching with desirable early Mexican War era date on a musket still in service of Confederate forces during the Civil War. Very good plus with nice markings and dark old metal patina. Stock with the worn original finish and faintly visible outline of the cartouche behind the rear lock plate screw head. Lock in working order and dark bore. All original and scarce date.
