Description:
Offered is a very high quality, classic style, custom FN Mauser in cal .280 Remington. The stock was made from avery nice blank of English walnut by Fred Speiser, of Missoula Montana, it shows black streaking from the butt to the ebony forend cap. Checkering is 26 lines per inch, classic, point pattern, wrap around on the forend, 3 panel on the pistol grip. Safety is 2 position M70 style. Butt plate is 2 screw steel and the 1 screw grip cap is also steel. The floorplate is steel by FN. Scope bases are custom machined from steel bar stock and accept the Weisner finger lever rings (same dimensions as Kimber, I think). Barrel is a medium weight Pac-Nor. The scope is a vintage 7.5X Leupold. There is a total of about 50 inches of gold line inlay work on the rifle and scope rings. The engraving was execuited be Master Engraver Barry Lee Hands, formerly of Big Fork, Montana.
A most beautiful and accurate rifle in a great caliber. I can provide test targets/loads that show this rifle will consistantly shoot 3 shot groups into .4 to .7 inch.
Life is too short to hunt with an ugly black/plastic rifle.
