Production began at the state arsenal in Cugir; aka ROMARM
Cugir offers a semi-auto only version of the PM-63 named WASR-10, And a version of this known as the WASR-10/63 was imported back between 2007 and 2013.
The 10/63 was rebuilt from original PM-63 service rifles over in Romania.
All parts are Romanian, except for the minimum number required to be US made under Sec. 922(r). These include the trigger group & pistol grip. other parts like the receiver, barrel, and bolt are Romanian. Features include: AKM type properly riveted 1.0mm stamped receiver, 16.25 long cold hammer forged AKM profile barrel, chromelined bore, standard 14x1 LH muzzle threads, cleaning rod retaining brackets with rod, front and rear sling swivels, adjustable front and rear iron sights, and the ability to feed from all standard AK47/AKM magazines and drums. The WASR takes standard AK handguards, pistol grips, buttstocks, triggers, and so on. This makes customizing very easy. It is spare parts compatible with any other AKM type rifle also. The WASR10/63 came with original Romanian wood furniture. This includes the upper & lower handguards, and the buttstock.
