This is a standard military contract model for World War One production. On April 29th 1918 the Ordinance Department suggested to increase production to not finish the openings in the receiver under the stocks. The openings were to be left unfinished. The results left the frame openings with a pointed heart shaped look to the openings. This was done to about 60 to 70% of the receivers produced starting with around serial number 375000 to the end of War production. These frames are not common to see today. This Colt is one of these frames done this way. This Colt has seen light service use and wear. The weak war time blued finish is well faded leaving around 30% of the finish intact. The original barrel is in fine condition with sharp lands and no pitting. This pistol shows little sign of being fired much. The grips are in very nice condition. There is no pitting of the frame or slide. The surface of the pistol is in fine condition with no dents or scratches. This Colt has been in the same Veteran's family since the end of World War One. The early style two tone magazine has the staple for the lanyard. The pistol comes with The original G&K 1918 dated holster, magazine pouch dated July 1918 By Mills with two original two tone magazines and two original lanyards. The holster is in very fine condition and not cracked or dried out. The pouch is also in fine condition with two fine condition magazines. The lanyards are marked Pat. Feb-20 17. They are in fine condition. This is a highly collectable World War One Colt pistol with the original accessories! These items have been with this pistol since the end of the Great War! The ammunition is for display only and not for sale. Search for hlvfineguns on google for more details. Curio&Relic H.L.V. Private (12) F.
