Description:
M1 Carbine semi-automatic rifle — Manufactured by Inland Div. The carbine's serial number is 5372179; Barrel markings are Inland Mfg. Div., General Motors, 7-44. Carbine has been in the family since purchase from NRA in 1963; has been in storage and not used since 1984.
Carbine has a type III low wood walnut stock in very good condition with only several light blemishes. The stock has the ordnance wheel on the right side near the oiler cut out. Bottom of pistol grip is marked with a Y. Very visible I0 stamped in the oval cut sling slot. Square checkered butt plate. Sliding ramp-type adjustable rear sight is marked PI, also for Inland. The handguard is the 4 rivet late style. It has the type 2 barrel band. Weapon does not have a bayonet lug. Proof mark "p" on top of barrel approximately 2" from barrel band. No obvious markings on front sight. The barrel has a mirror bright clean bore with strong rifling. Plain unmarked push button type safety. Magazine release tab is marked with M on face. Magazine is 15 round marked BW. No indication of reimportation or arsenal rebuild. Carbine looks original but I have not broken it down to clean and inspect it. Overall, the carbine's condition is very good to excellent.
