Here we have a beautifully blued and well cared for Thompson Center Arms Contender 1st Generation chambered in .22 Long Rifle/LR with the 10 inch barrel.
The action breaks clean and locks up tight. Based on internet research this model is believed to have been manufactured in 1978.
Thompson Center Contender models are essentially an action and “frame” handling a wide variety of barrel designs and calibers. The ejector, sights and such are all on the barrels so the same frame assembly can be used to shoot anything ranging from .22 LR to .45-70.
These models are break-action single-shot pistols that are accurate to shoot and what a bonus that you can change barrels to accomodate other calibers.
This pistol has beautiful wood, the bore is clean, the finish is in nice condition with the cougar etched on the sides of the receiver and includes a Thompson Center wooden case lined with rich red material.
This is a wonderful vintage pistol to target shoot, teach a new shooter or start your collection of TC contender barrels.
