Description:
This Underwood WWII through Korea was mfg by them about 12/43, Ser No. 2860XXX it was refurbished by Standard Products (See Logo on Left Side by the sling well "STD PROD RWH" w/an M-2 Stock & some M2 internal parts, Trigger Hsg T 5, , Oper Slide T 6, Bolt T3. The wood is very good w/no cracks or repairs & the Handguard T 3 is the same.
The foillowing component parts make up this Underwood;
Receiver - 2nd Block (&/43-3/44,narrow Tang. No tube hole, T1 retaining lug , Double Stamping of the serial number , Rear Sight - T3 (Stamped) "I.R. C. O.,
Barrel - UnWd dated 12-13 w/"u" proofmark, Front Sight RIA, (PW), T3 Round Bolt, Trigger Hsg T5 (inland) for M-2, Hammer- TT3, Sear - UM T2, Safety - T 4
w/M, Oper Slide - T6 (M2), HdGd - T3 UM, Recaoil Plate - T3 UM, Barrel bnd - T4 w/"Q", Butt Plate - W. *Stock has milled area for M2 Selector Switch..A variety of
new and surplus WWII M2 components were used to provide M2's for Korea and Nam *According to the limited info that I have avaiable.Inland & Winchester were the prime comtractors in the latter part of WW II (1945) to convert many of the their brand Carbines to an M-2 configuation (US M1 Carbines by Craig Riesch. I believe both Underwood and Standard Products were the two private contractoes involved in this conversion as well. Bore measures "1.5" (Very Good) , Also has a bright & shiney bore w/a distinct twist. Includes Sling (WWII Type, Oiler (SI) and a 30rd Magazine. Magazine in pic is a 20rd - Choice of it or 30Rd "Banana".type.

It is my opinion that these reconverted back to just Semi Auto examples would make excellent shooters due to the heavier internal parts.
