***PENDING SALE 1-19-2021****
This is a fine example of an early 1943 production Model 1911 A1 Colt pistol, reworked by Colt to a Mark IV Series 70 Gold Cup National Match model.

Chambered in .45 Auto, 5 inch barrel and beautiful checkered grips with the Rampant Colt medallion adorning both the grip the slide. Markings and numbers remain mostly visible, finish is in great condition, bore is clear and bright, with good rifling.

Like many of this WWII era, this was a Military issued pistol, not intended for the consumer market, one original owner.

The right side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" the front end is marked "M1911A1 US ARMY" and the crossed cannon ordnance proof is behind the right grip. The "crossed cannons" final inspection mark was adopted in 1942 by the Ordnance Department. The left side of the frame is stamped a faint "F", which one can fairly speculate it was originally "FJA" for Col. Frank J. Atwood (who inspected Ithaca, Colt, Remington-Rand and Singer pistols) based on the font positioning of the stamping.

This pistol is a beautiful example of a historical time and quality made weaponry, a great piece for any Colt or Military collector.
