Description:
General Specs: Parker, Year 1937 (Upgraded in '87), .410 gauge "OOO" frame, 6lbs 5oz, Chokes SK/SK, LOP 14 1/4", DAH 2 7/16", DAC 1 1/2"
Serial Number: 240798

Parker Brothers and later, Remington/Parker, NEVER PRODUCED A BHE GRADE .410 BORE GUN.  That’s right, not even one BHE .410 on record.  Knowing that the collector/shooter has zero chance of ever owning one no matter how much money they might have, an upgraded BHE .410 allows a Parker aficionado to fill a hole in a collection and have one of the most handsome of the small bore Parkers to shoot.  Overall production of Parker .410 bore guns IN ALL GRADES TOTALS ONLY 567 GUNS.  THEY ARE RARE!  Many "craftsman" attempt upgrades.  Few succeed in producing a historically correct Parker.  None could be more authentic than a BHE .410 engraved by the last Parker factory engraver, Robert Runge Jr., and upgraded by Larry Del Grego Sr. in 1987.  Del Grego Sr. worked for Remington/Parker Gun Works since 1934, leaving in 1952 to start his own business repairing and restoring Parkers.  Remington designated his shop the official Parker repair station.  Other senior craftsman from Parker joined with Del Grego, including Walter Nalenzy, stockmaker, Samuel Kencharek, metal finisher, and Robert P. Runge Jr., chief engraver (evenings and weekends).  These Parker employees famously passed on the Parker tradition by training the son, Larry Del Grego Jr., and his subsequent employees in all things Parker.  The firm, Del Grego and Sons, carries on the tradition to this day.  This fine Parker started life as a VHE .410 with SST and ejectors and was upgraded by the same hands that would have built the gun for Parker Gun Works.  The value of an upgraded Parker built by Del Grego's shop is supreme, especially with engraving signed by Runge himself (signature line reads “ENGR REPRODUCTION BY RPRUNGE ILIONNY 87).  It is a piece of history that is a wonderful investment opportunity and perfect for upland birds and clay targets. The 26" barrels marked "Acme Steel" retain 100% rust blue, excellent bores, choked Skeet/Skeet with 3” chambers.  The ribs are tight, no dents, double ivory beads, ejectors strong and timed, barrels tight on breech face and hinge pin, all in excellent shape.  The receiver is engraved to Parker perfection by Robert P. Runge, retaining 100% case color, perfect screws, action tight with lever well right of center, Single Selective Trigger gold plated, trigger guard 100% blue, mechanically excellent in every way.  The engraving is sharp and clear, spectacular!  The nicely figured English stock retains all its original finish, perfect checkering, no cracks or repairs, skeleton butt plate, superb wood to metal fit, great stock dimensions (see below), all to factory perfection.  The diminutive beavertail forend fits the gun to perfection as well.  This is a rare opportunity to own a Parker upgraded by the last of the original Parker employees to what may be the only BHE .410 Skeet gun on the planet!  The gun has been fired, so it does not have to stay a "closet queen", but instead can be used as intended for upland birds and clays.  If you have ever considered building a complete collection of Skeet Guns or other small-bore Parkers, this is your chance to fill a spot that would be impossible with an original Meriden or Remington Parker.  Because of its provenance and the fame of its makers, the value will continue to climb as years go by, making it a solid investment as well.  Weighing 6lbs. 5oz. and feeling just right in hand, it is a joy to hold.  Thanks for looking!
