Exceptional US model 1842 percussion pistol manufactured by henry ashton of middletown conn. approx 2400 produced, round smoothbore with brass front sight, swivel mounted button head ramrod. Distinctive combo of barrel band/side plate, trigger guard, buttcap and backstrap are brass. Oil finished black walnut stock. Lock plate has markings of US/HALTON roll stamped in two lines in front of the hammer and middtn/conn/1847 stamped vertically behind the hammer. barrel tang dated 1847. 1842 was the last single shot percussion pistol to see service with the U.S. Excellant condition is in unissued condition. Metal has no service wear, nipple and bolster have no flash pitting, stock also in excellant condition, final inspection stamp is very sharp. Action is tight and functions perfectly, doesnt appear to have ever been fired. Exceptional example of a primary US martial handgun. Price $$1499 and $35 shipping
