Description:
Very nice Savage Model 20 bolt rifle, with the rare bolt-mounted peep sight and chambering in 300 Savage. Only about 2,500 Model 20s were manufactured, approximately half in 300 Savage and half in 250-3000 Savage. Blue and bore of this vintage rifle (serial #12,XXX, circa. 1927?) are in very good condition, with no extra holes drilled, original rear sight, no pitting, and 24 inch barrel. It shoots wonderfully with the peep at 50 yards (see target), and would do as well at 100 if my eyes were better. The gun comes with the original factory stock, and a recent replacement I had custom built for it because the original has a visible repaired crack at the wrist and trigger inlet. This gives the owner the option of adding mileage to whichever stock you want on it for the field or bench. If you haven't shot a 300 Savage, it runs neck-and-neck with a 308 Win., making this an entirely adequate cartridge for big deer, bear, moose, and even elk at peep sight range. I can move it back to the original stock for a Curio/Relic sale. I've invested about $2K in this package, but will offer it here for $1499. I can also provide brass and RCBS dies for this gun if purchased "Buy Now" full price. Buyer pays shipping/ins. of choice, probably two packages.
