Description:
Antique Winchester Model 1892 rifle in caliber 38 WCF aka 38-40, one of the most accurate rounds produced. Standard configuration with 24" full round barrel, full magazine, crescent butt, walnut stocks, open sights and plain trigger. Serial number 109463 was made in 1896 according to the published Madis records.
CONDITION: Receiver is a pleasing blue/plum mix with some bright blue remaining in the protected areas; overall coverage about 40%. Stocks are sound with no splits or cracks, just typical nicks and scratches from use, no extra holes, never sanded or refinished. Barrel and mag tube have about 10% original finish remaining, mostly patina, with some nicer color in the protected areas, and have some light oxidation staining. Bore is very good with nice rifling and typical scattered black powder fouling. Rifle has been test-fired using Western Super X factory ammo; feeds, functions and operates as it should, including the half cock safety. Great shooter - see last picture of 25 yard target. All in all grades NRA Antique Very Good and will make a nice addition to your Winchester collection as a shooter and a collectible.
