Antique Winchester Model 1885 single shot model, high wall variation, in caliber 40-82, of which only 1733 were made in this caliber for this model, equating to 1.25% of total production of the Single Shot model. Special order rifle having a single set trigger. Other features are standard, including the 30" #3 octagon barrel, crescent butt, walnut stocks, case hardened frame, and open sights. Serial number 23787 was made and shipped in 1888. Copy of Cody Museum email sheet is pictured and will be included with the rifle.
CONDITION: Barrel has 60% coverage that is an even, pleasing plum. Receiver retains 10% original case colors with brighter colors on the lower tang. Stocks are sound with no splits or cracks, never sanded or refinished, no extra holes, exhibiting normal dings and nicks from use. Excellent bore and action. Set trigger is not working but still operates as a standard trigger, and the half cock safety still functions as well. This rifle has been test-fired and is incredibly accurate - see picture of 25 yard target. All in all grades NRA Antique Very Good and will make a nice addition to your Winchester and/or Single Shot collection.
