REDUCED - This is an exceptional Merkel Over Under Shotgun that was manufactured in July of 1981 in the GDR (German Democratic Republic). It weighs just a bit less than 7 lbs, exceptionally well balanced with 27 inch barrels with a solid rib, choked full and extra full, and with 2&3/4 inch chambers. Shotgun has an exceptional piece of European walnut with an extra nice original oil finish, and a factory buttplate. The most striking thing about this Merkel is the quality of the game scene engraving on the action. While we cannot find an engraver's initials or marking this engraving was done by a very talented individual. It is my understanding that Merkel engravers did not sign their work prior to 1990 (before the wall came down), but this engraving beats the heck out of current engraving I've seen on newer Merkels. Just a super Deluxe Merkel!
