"Martini-Henry Sporting Rifle by F. Beesley. Located at 2 St. James street, London S.W. The overall length is approximately 44½". The 28" .577/450 caliber barrel has a good bore with strong rifling, with a matted top flat. Metal has an overall smooth blue/brown patina. The stocks are fine with no cracks or chips. The wrist and forearm are checkered, there is a trap (empty) in the butt. This rifle is equipped with sling eyes, there is a small oval blank silver escutcheon 3½" forward of the butt toe. The action function correctly. This is a fine example of a single shot English sporting rifle by a well-known maker.
