Description:
The item for sale is a Winchester Model 1892 SRC chambered for the 38-40 (38WCF) cartridge. The serial number, 612112, indicates the carbine was manufactured in 1911. The receiver and barrel finish have a pleasing plum patina from the aged factory blue. The stock and forearm are gumwood which is correct. The wood shows handling use which is typical for gumwood stocks which are much softer than walnut. Some type of wood finish has been applied to the stock and forearm in the past. The front sight is a blade and the rear sight is the standard folding carbine sight. The action works smoothly and locks up solidly as is expected. The saddle ring has been replaced sometime in the past. The bore has well defined lands and grooves with some pitting. It should be a good shooter if desired .Please include $45 for shipping.
