Description:
Serial #5387, .476, 7 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a handsome revolver that matching serial and assembly numbers (4121) throughout, including the grip panels, and retains 90-92% of a manufacturer reapplied lustrous blue finish with scattered minor handling marks, some brown fading along the barrel, and silvered fading along the “church steeple" cylinder, raised edges, and projections. Some small peen marks are present on the barrel, and there is gray fading along the gripstraps. The topstrap has Webley “476 'WG' MODEL 1893" marking with the Webley & Scott “Winged Bullet" on the lower left side of the frame, an “ENGLAND" export stamp on the left side of the barrel breech, and an “ARMY & NAVY C.S.L." retailer marking on the barrel rib. The hammer, knurled target trigger, and cylinder retention stirrup have some traces of mild freckling on the bright metal while the thumb lever has most of the original blue remaining. The checkered walnut grips are in very good shape with minor bruises and handling marks on both panels, and some flattening of the points. The lock-up is still solid and tight, and the action functions flawlessly. According to the Army & Navy CSL records (Book 25, pg. 113), this revolver was sold on December 1, 1893, to a “Maj. Porter" (no further information given). This is a great example of .476 target revolver, and rates fine condition overall. Antique
