Description:
1954 Vintage Ruger Old Model Single Six serial number 751. This revolver was acquired from the original owner who purchased it new from Honus Wagner Sporting Goods in Washington, PA. Honus Wagner, nicknamed "the Flying Dutchman," was a Hall of Fame baseball player and manager for the Pittsburgh Pirates who opened a chain of sporting goods stores in Pennsylvania after his playing career was over. This Ruger includes the original two piece box, and receipt showing the original owner payed $59.50 plus tax for this revolver in 1954. The gun has has been used but is in perfect working order with an excellent bore. It's early features including a flat loading gate, serrated front sight, 5-1/2" barrel,and checkered hard rubber grips. The original two piece box is coming apart at the corners and held together with tape, but includes the original receipt, instructions, and warranty card. The gun retains approximately 85% of its original finish. The gun was sent back to Ruger to have the transfer bar added at some point in its life, so it can be carried safetly with six rounds loaded. The original parts unfortunately had been lost over time. These parts are easliy sourced if you wanted to put it back to 100% original condition. This is a very interesting early variation of the Old Model Single Six, and the lowest serial numbered example we have ever seen.
