Description:
This is a good example of the Colt Paterson M1839 Carbine. This example shows a light metal appearance being cleaned up a bit in its lifetime. The stock is good condition, there is a period pin repair that is hard to notice, I have seen this type of repair on these Paterson Carbines and rifles before and it isn't that uncommon, although the stock refinished, it does appear that there is a outline of a cartouche which I can not confirm 100% it is one but it does have the correct outline for one and is in the correct placement on the right side of the stock. Also this is in the correct serial number range for Martial Carbines, this example bearing the number 661. The barrel markings are easily discernible. The barrel also retains what appears to be the original loading lever. The cylinder shows the Colt markings but no other scene is discernible. Mechanically very good working properly most of the time, sometimes the action wants to hang up a bit. These are a bit difficult to find these days as when they’re purchased, they’re put into a collection and stay there for quite some time so don’t miss your opportunity.
