This is an early Detonics .45 Auto finished in black. The metal is in very good condition and the finish is good with a number of small scratches and holster wear along its defined edges (see photos). The serial number is a simple 4 digit: 3209. According to the data Detonics started its first manufacturing runs circa 1977 with the first serial number being 2000. I couldn't find a source that precisely dated this Detonics but I believe late 1970's is a safe production period. The stamping on the upper indicates it was manufactured in Seattle, WA. and the other side is stamped with DETONICS .45 PAT. PEND. If you're a Detonics aficionado you'll know this is a nice representation of their early line and a great addition to your collection.
Detonics styled and designed this gun to be quite similar in function to the M1911. It will receive a 1911 .45 auto magazine but will extend below the grip as the standard 1911 mag is longer. I have 2 original mags for it and another aftermarket mag that fits as designed (3 total). It’s a great compact gun with an overall length of 6". Very fun to shoot and quite accurate (despite the unusual forward front site). The holster depicted in the image below is form fit to this gun and designed to be worn on the waist or adapted to a shoulder rig.
