ORIGINAL CIVIL WAR TRENTON U.S. MODEL 1861 NEW JERSEY STATE CONTRACT PERCUSSION RIFLE MUSKET DATED 1863. 40” rifled .58 caliber barrel with the original front and rear sights. U.S. Ordnance “V/P/EAGLEHEAD” proofs at the left breech and dated stamped “1863” at the top at the breech. Far left of the breech stamped “N.J.” the New Jersey state acceptance stamp. Lock plate stamped “EAGLE/U.S./TRENTON” and dated “1863”. All original including the ramrod. Very good plus overall with nice medium grey patina. Stock in lightly worn with old unit stamp “2T” in front of butt plate tang and faint outline of a cartouche. Working order and dark bore with worn but visible rifling.
