FRENCH Antique FLINTLOCK 1822 Rifle-MUSKET
19th Century European Flintlock Musket
Here we present an antique French Model 1822 Flintlock Musket, made circa the late 1830s. This musket would have been used by French infantry throughout the tumultuous 19th Century. It features a cheek-cut on the left side of the stock. The right side of the butt stock has been marked with a round acceptance mark that has become faint with use. There are also dated acceptance marks on the iron parts to include the lock and barrel. The date is “[18]37”. The butt plate tang is also marked. This was a period for France that was full of turmoil, both inside and outside, with revolutions, assassination attempts, and wars.
The overall condition is very good. The metal parts are bright. The markings are clear and legible. The walnut stock is in great shape. The bore is in good shape, clean with nice rifling. The action is excellent.
