Springfield, model 1873 Trapdoor rife in 45-70 caliber. Serial number 486595. Built in 1890, this rifle has a 33" barrel with a fair bore. The rifle retains 80% of the original blue finish. The stock appears to have been refinished at some time as no inspectors stamps or cartoches are visible. Overall good condition with a leather sling. The sling is a modern reproduction and in good condition. Forend of barrel has some dings and has the most bluing loss. Forend of the stock has the most wear. There is a small fracture in the stock at the rear end of the hammer plate.
