AMES U.S. MODEL 1840 HEAVY CAVALRY SWORD DATED 1848 AND SCABBARD. Used in both the Mexican War and the Civil War. 42” o/a with 35” blade. Ricasso inspected “US/WD” and “N.P. AMES/CABOTVILLE/1848”. All original and excellent with the original dark patina. Original grip wrap and retaining wire. Really nice example.
