Description:
Mannlicher-Schoenauer GK Model .30-06
20" Barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain about 98% original blue on the barreled action with the bright-honed action races still brilliant and excellent pale straw on the bolt catch and cartridge release. The bottom metal shows a similar amount of original blue with the magazine floorplate toning to a plum color with some toning to pewter where very light oxidation was removed; it is Stoeger Arms Corp. marked. The bolt retains excellent original blue, the GK with the rearward-swept butterknife style handle, it is numbered to the receiver. The classic style checkered walnut capped pistolgrip stock rates about excellent with the very sparsely scattered expected light handling marks that come from a carefully used arm. It features a rounded left side shadowline cheekpiece with nice checkered panels at the grip and a wrap-around forearm pattern, the grip panels with mullered borders. The pistolgrip cap is hard rubber and the length of pull to the grooved hard rubber buttplate is 14”. The sporting front ramp supports a simple ivory bead front sight with two leaf rear, one standing, one folding. These examples feature the left-side-of receiver “blank” below the wood line for mounting a Jaeger or G&H style quick release lever base and ring set without the need for inletting the stock as it is base-ready. The GK is a seldom-encountered example of these fine arms and in addition to the wing style safety atop the bolt shroud there is also a nice manual safety on the right side of the receiver.
