Payment Types Accepted: M/C, VISA, American Express and Discover Description: Mass. Arms Co. Maynard Tape Primed Pocket Revolver .31 Caliber Unusual example with a 4” barrel, instead of the 3.5” that is believed to be the maximum length. Bore has strong rifling. Frame is engraved. Etched cylinder scene is mostly visible. Side plate has a very clear eagle and Maynard patent markings. Trigger guard has 98% of its original tarnished silver, as does the front grip strap. Grips has no chips or cracks but has dents on the underside of the grip. The backstrap has 13 notches, presumably for 13 kills or bullseyes or broken bottles. Normally we do not like notches on grips but these have a look of credibility. Upon opening the side door for the Maynard metal tape primer we found the normally missing tape primer in place and intact. If you buy this revolver, do not lose the tape primer. They sell for $100 or more and are very scarce. Presently, the tape does not advance when cocking the hammer. The mechanism works and would advance by resetting the tape. We recommend you do not do that as you will likely fire a cap if you let the hammer fall on the cap. Overall a verynice example with some interesting features (4” barrel). Has an even good looking patina overall. SOLD Antique: Yes |
