Pending! REDUCED! This is an extremely rare Texas percussion rifle sold by Schmidt &Kosse in Houston, Texas 1850s-1860s. Only a few of these rifles have surfaced over the years and they are seldom seen on the market. Schmidt &Kosse operated from 1838 to 1872 at 75 Main Street Houston Texas. The rifle was most likely manufactured by James Bown & Son for Pennsylvania for Schmidt & Kosse. The rifle is approximately .40 caliber, brass mounted half stock, with a 36" octagonal barrel. The lock is Goulcher marked and the only additional identifying marks are the Schmidt & Kosse Houston, Tex.
