Description: Another stunningly beautiful and highly coveted Pre War 70, this time in the seldom encountered .220 Swift caliber. This screamer was developed by Winchester just a few years prior (1935) and was the first round to ever exceed 4000 fps muzzle velocity! This rifle does have 2 non-factory drill holes on top of the rear receiver bridge for scope mounting which I have accounted for in my price. S/N 35*** with matching scribed bolt made in 1941. The overall condition is simply amazing for a 79 y.o. firearm and it has obviously seen very little use. There are some light abrasions within the outer lacquer finish and a bit of wear on the floor plate but easily approaching 97% Blue and Varnish. The 26" stainless barrel has an excellent bore and as usual, I can not detect any of the fantasy "throat erosion" or any other issues whatsoever. The muzzle crown is in the white as it should be. Despite the 2 drill holes, this is a defiantly proud piece that just flat doesn't come along very often, particularly in a Pre War! SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
