The saving grace for this one is the bore which is excellent and fairly bright all the way through. The metal surfaces are gray with some shallow scattered pitting on the left side of the frame and scattered along the barrel. All markings are sharp and clear. The buckhorn rear sight with Rocky Mountain blade front sights are original. The loading gate shows fine deep blue. The butt stock and forend are fine and show only light handling and display tight wood to metal fit at the receiver. It appears this one just had some poor storage at one point and was cleaned. Still, a good, solid 1881 with a great bore. SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: MARLIN Model: 1881 Serial Number: 9XXX Barrel Length: 28" OCTAGON Condition: VG Bore Condition: FINE+ |
