Description:
This is the only 53 that I feel is Factory engraved. There are a few out there but I don't believe them to be correct. This one I feel is right. It features the #6 pattern Winchester engraving with the ram inside of an oval on one side. The other side has a buck deer standing in an oval. The takedown ring is engraved. This gun features an unusual scarce stainless steel barrel as well as deluxe checkered wood. It has a shotgun butt and a cheek piece. The buttstock is checkered in an unusual pattern that I have not seen before. I believe it to be original. Looks good. The 22 inch round stainless steel barrel has 4 tap screws for a scope. Original sights. The barrel has flaked most of the Japan finish. This is not uncommon. Receiver retains about 80% blue. A very interesting gun that is probably one of a kind. Comes complete with a lengthy article from the Winchester Collectors Magazine Fall 2010 that talks about it. Gun is also featured in the WACA calendar for 2011. A very nice little outfit.
