Except those listed as Payment Types Accepted: Bank Checks / Money Orders Description: very Early Antique British Webley Mk.I Revolver. This is one of the hardest to find British Military Revolvers known as the MARK ONE and the very first version of the Webley Top-Break revolver series. This model was first produced in 1887 and this one has serial # 226 (matching on the frame, cylinder and barrel), cal. 45 ACP, has a 4” barrel with a good bore that has tracking between the grooves and strong rifling. The barrel is also stamped "England" with various Crown/V, Crown/P proofs. Left side stamped with "Webley/Mark I/Patents". The finish has traces of blue, cold blue and what appear to be traces of a brass or bronze color remaining overall, there are some areas of very light peppery pitting but nothing alarming. This revolver is stamped with a N on the pawl indicating that it was issued to the Royal Navy, it’s also marked with the large crows foot "Broad Arrow" which means it was actually issued. At some point, the cylinder (most of the serial number can be read) was "shaved" to accept .45 ACP in half or full moon clips. The Birds Eye Wood Grips were issued on early guns and these are in very good condition. The cylinder lock-up is good, the firing pin on the hammer is missing and the mainspring has been replaced but the original (broken) is still located inside between the grips. The lanyard loop is intact and swivels freely. Note: cal .45 ACP cartridges are far more powerful than the .455 Webley, and are not the cartridges this revolver is designed for. Therefore this revolver is being sold as an antique for display only and not to be fired. The overall condition as described and photographed is good - good plus. Inv.: # 12-23 SOLD Antique: Yes |
