Description:
"

British Pattern 1845 Brunswick rifle with bayonet. The overall length is approximately 45½”. The 30” round .704 caliber barrel has the 2-groove Brunswick rifling. These grooves engage a specialty case ball which has a raised belt to fit the grooves. The bright barrel is smooth and clean with a few areas of light staining. The barrel has the standard proof and inspection marks. The lock has a board arrow over “I” to the front followed by 1864/Tower. The lock tail has a crown over “V.R.”. The stock is good with the dents and dings of an issue gun. There are two area of wood loss at the barrel channel, approximately 2¾” on the right and approximately 4½” on the left. There are a couple of stress cracks to the front and rear of the cock. The round issue stamp, just forward of the patch box, has a crown over “W” broad arrow “O” in the center and “Tower of London” around the outside. Just forward of that is a broad arrow over “I” (same as the lock). The brass furniture is fine. The action functions correctly. The included bayonet is fine overall, with one area of pitting about ½” wide 4” forward of the guard. It is marked “Enfield 18(?)8” (third number is illegible) and above that is a crown over “VR”. The reverse has a crown/F/6. The hilt is marked “D/43”. Most of the original blue is on the blade. Here’s your chance to own an iconic British rifle with bayonet at a reasonable price.
