Description:
#82811, Waffenfabrik Mauser Oberndorf a/n: A 30-06 Commercial Mauser Sporter Carbine Type M with Their Full Length Mannlicher Stock, Made in 1921, 20" Barrel, Band front ramp with a sight protector, Barrel band sling eye, 3 leaf Type M express sights with 2 folding & 1 standing, Receiver ring fully matted, Hinged floorplate with a trigger guard bow release, Standard trigger with a nice let-off, Correct Type M butter knife bolt handle, The receiver ring and bridge were never drilled or tapped; Every serial number matches including the stock, receiver, barrel, bolt, extractor, bolt sleeve, safety catch, cocking piece, bolt stop release except the magazine box and the floorplate which has a serial number from the same year, The action rails inside nicely polished, The Type M Mannlicher stock with excellent color and contrast, This is a very nice piece of wood seldom seen on a commercial Mauser, Cheekpiece, Bakelite type grip cap, Sling eye on the buttstock line and 7" from the muzzle, Steel forend cap, Point pattern checkering on the grip & forend, 14 1/8" LOP over the original steel trapdoor buttplate with holes for cleaning gear, 7 Lbs., The internal inletting looks like the day it left the banks of the Neckar River, The absolute original blue on the barrel and receiver overall remains at 96-97%, The floorplate and trigger guard remain at 75% original, The stock finish at 97%, The checkering is at 99%, The bore is excellent plus and almost looks new. It has a small piece of wood added below the bolt stop release that is very professionally done. This piece was imported and originally sold by Stoeger along with 5 other 30-06's. I am most certain it never went on many hard hunting trips and it was not shot a great deal. This is one neat Pre-WWII Type M with all the correct features of that era. This rifle is another great piece from the talents of Paul von Mauser who left an everlasting legacy with the Gewehr 98 system bolt action magazine rifle. No one has beaten him since and most likely no one ever will.

A. (Alexander) F. Stoeger started importing fine firearms in the 1920's in his New York City shop. He stated that he was the "Sole authorized importer for the United States and Canada of the genuine Mauser and Luger Arms and Ammunition." German Luger pistols were among the first firearms Stoeger sold. The Stoeger catalog in the 1930's stated the company to be "the only exclusive gun house in America."
