"Palmetto Armory U.S. Model 1842 Percussion Contract Musket. Manufactured by Palmetto Armory. Barrel has a gray patina with pin prick pitting on the surface. Lock and hammer have a dark patina with pitting on the lock with faint Palmetto tree with “S.C.". Rear of the lock has “Columbia S.C. 1852" visible. Stock is in good condition, no cracks noted. These muskets are considered, by experts, to be the secondary arm for the Confederacy during the Civil War!
